Sunshine, Surf and SOUL: Yoga in Costa Rica, JUNE 5-12, 2021

Travel with Sheila Ewers to one of the most breathtaking, bio-diverse places on earth: Nosara, Costa Rica. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the rainforest. Swim in the healing salt water. Practice Yoga daily. Nourish yourself with fresh, delicious meals and bond with fellow adventurers. Yogic wisdom teaches that our true nature is infinite, eternal and whole, connected to all beings and radiant beyond our imagining. We sense this when we pause to watch a sunset, when we gaze into the vast horizon of an endless sea, and when we are surprised by beauty, but oftentimes our busy lives leave little or no time to explore either the world without or the world within our own being. Give yourself the gift of retreat to recalibrate your awareness and dive into deeper connection with Self and Soul.

“I am the lover of uncontained and immortal beauty. In the wilderness, I find something more dear and connate than in streets or villages. In the tranquil landscape, and especially in the distant line of the horizon, man beholds somewhat as beautiful as his own nature.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nature and Selected Essays

Venue and Local Area

Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort opened its doors in 2014 for travelers that want to enjoy the magic of Costa Rica in a very unique and healthy way. Enjoy  high-end accommodations, superb dining experience, world class yoga and pilates studios, gym, spa, juice bar and boutique. It is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Costa Rica

Nosara is in the beautiful province of Guanacaste in the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. Nicoya is considered one of the Blue Zones areas where cultures have evolved to prolong the longevity of human life. Life expectancies of Nicoya residents easily surpass 100 years of age with a population far older than the rest of the country.A water source enriched with calcium and magnesium, diets composed of naturally harvested foods, and a strong sense of community are a few of the secrets residents of Nicoya follow to live a pure, happy and long life.
Despite having one of the last locations with unpaved roads in the country, Nosara’s wonderful lack of development directly on the beach makes it special. Known as one of the most sophisticated beach towns in Costa Rica, this small but special town has a lot to offer. Travelers from all over the world enjoy the pristine beaches that surround it. This area has a huge passion for the protection of the national parks system which makes the place unique for its hundreds of acres of protected forest. The community is exceptional and united. The local citizens work really hard keeping the beaches clean. There is also a big drive for ecotourism, sustainability and recycling like no other town in the country. This sets the perfect example of a planned developed community. The natural beauty, way of life and vibe became a dream come true for hundreds of families that chose to live a tranquil and relaxed life. Parents have the opportunity to immerse their children in a more organic way of living in nature. Showing respect and loving nature becomes one of the most important parts of life. Being woken up by monkeys; eating healthy and real food, playing outside, enjoying wonderful bilingual private school options and learning to respect different cultures, the children grow up with a real sense of life.
Nosara offers all modern amenities like: high-speed internet, cable or satellite TV, stocked grocery stores with plenty of imported items and amazing restaurants with a diversity of international cuisine. The official town is located 6 km inland from the beach.Yoga & Surfing culture is huge and a significant component of this town. You will see that people are either carrying a surf board or a yoga mat in their arms. Nosara has been called one of the world’s 20 best surf towns. With a diversity of waves in the area, it invites world-class surfers, novice and intermediate surfers to enjoy the magical and consistent waves year round. There are a variety of fitness options all over town. If you are not a surfer or a yogi, you don’t have to worry! There are plenty of adventure activities around like ATV tours, Zip Lining, Horseback Riding, Stand Up Paddling, Kayak and much more.

Accommodations

The Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort was designed to flow with the nature that surrounds us. You can begin your day with a cool-down in your outdoor shower or a dip in the salt-water infinity pool at sunrise. Soothing fountains and waterfalls guide you through the local fauna on your way to your bungalow. Open the door to find a star-lit shower, luxurious cotton sheets and a canopied bed that promises a well-deserved rest. All bungalows have air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi and modern amenities abound. Security staff is available 24 hours a day and housekeeping staff will keep your room looking as beautiful as the first day you arrive.

Travel Details

US Citizens traveling to Costa Rica need a current passport. Check the expiration date to make sure that it does not expire within 6 months of your trip. Visas are not required.

When you leave Costa Rica, you will have to pay a departure tax of $29 USD. It must be paid at Juan Santamaria International Airport before going through airport security. The tax is payable in either colones, U.S. dollars, or with Visa/Mastercard.

Option 1: Fly from San Jose Airport (SJO)
A flight from San Jose to Nosara takes approximately 45 minutes and can be booked at www.flysansa.com. This is a beautiful way to get a bird’s eye view of the topography of Costa Rica and one of my favorite ways to see the country.

Option 2: Shuttle from Liberia Airport (LIR)
For those flying into Liberia, a shuttle can be arranged through Bodhi Tree Resort. The drive takes approximately 2.5 hours and will incur an additional fee of approximately $50 per person in a shared ride.

Option 3: Drive from either international airport. Rental cars are plentiful in Costa Rica, but you will want a 4 wheel drive vehicles, so be sure to arrange your rental well in advance.
